Review: Suddenly Royal by Nicole Chase

This book hit almost all of my absolute favorite points. Small town girl finds out she’s really royalty, hot prince, moving to a new place, finding out you’re secretly rich... all it needed was a cowboy and I would have passed out from sheer happiness!

Samantha Rousseau is used to getting her hands dirty. Working toward a master’s degree in wildlife biology while helping take care of her sick father, she has no time for celebrity gossip, designer clothes, or lazy vacations. So when a duchess from the small country of Lilaria invites her to dinner, Samantha assumes it’s to discuss a donation for the program. The truth will change the course of her life in ways she never dreamed.

Alex D’Lynsal is trying to keep his name clean. As crown prince of Lilaria, he’s had his share of scandalous headlines, but the latest pictures have sent him packing to America and forced him to swear off women—especially women in the public eye. That is, until he meets Samantha Rousseau. She’s stubborn, feisty, and incredibly sexy. Not to mention heiress to an estate in his country, this makes her everyone’s front-page news.

While Sam tries to navigate the new world of politics and wealth, she will also have to dodge her growing feelings for Alex. Giving in to them means more than just falling in love; it would mean accepting the weight of an entire country on her shoulders

For those who are close to me, namely my college roommates and fiancé, they know my go to feel good movie is ... Princess Diaries... the second one is my absolute favorite. I don’t know what it is about the story but if I’m having a bad day or I’m sick, I pop it in and the world is better. That’s how I felt about reading Suddenly Royal. It was one of those modern day fairytales that made you feel like a kid again and made you jealous that you weren’t Samantha.

The characters were awesome. The story is basically what would happen if Prince Harry found an unexpected air to the throne and she was a sassy chick from Wisconsin. I mean it’s basically every American girl’s dream right? That’s what so great about this story. It plays into your childhood fantasy of being a Princess. It could happen right?

Suddenly Royal was well written, had a cast of lovable characters and a plot that was well paced and exciting. Overall, this was my favorite New Adult this year and I can’t wait to read what Nicole Chase comes out with next....rumor has it it’s a book about Alex’s royal younger sister...eep!

Happy Reading :)

  1. This sounds like a fab story! Is it just like the Princess Diaries for a slightly older audience? Definitely adding this to my wishlist! Great review :)

    1. It's a romance so it's definitely a steamier and more adult version of the Princess Diaries. I think that's why I liked it so much. It had everything I'm looking for in a princess type romance, but I could relate to it because it had more of an adult feel rather than a high school aged setting. You definitely need to pick it up!

  3. I'm so glad you liked this one! I was worried it wasn't that good because one of my blogger friends despised it (I mean, really loathed it), but I don't think she likes New Adult all that much. And the cover is so cute :DD
